The Great British Fashion stamps have been created by London-based graphic designers Johnson Banks who have created the Designer Maps for the London Design Festival at the V&A in recent years. For the stamps Johnson Banks commissioned highly respected fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø to photograph 10 outfits chosen to summarise the last 60 years of British fasion. Live models - as opposed to static fashion mannequins - were used to achieve dynamic postures and a sense of movement. The models had to embody the ideal  silhouettes of the various fashion eras and fit... More

The Design of the Year award goes to Barber Osgerby. OK. No bad thing indeed, but for their Olympic Torch? Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic says, 'The 2012 Olympic Torch is elegantly designed and is a triumph of symbolism and beauty, the lightness and simplicity of the torch not only captures the spirit of London as Olympic host city but also demonstrates how design can celebrate traditional qualities in a modern manner.' But however well designed it is, people don't care much about Olympic torches. You have to wonder whether it was picked from a kind of well-meaning Olympic jingoism... More

This film, made by six students from the University of Delft's Strategic Product Design course with support from Zilver Innovation, is a loose exploration of how a wholistic design process is giving certain corporations the edge - how copier companies like Canon-Océ have shifted from just selling machines to selling services, for example.  The film argues that the increasing complexity of the market place means that businesses themselves must be use design thinking to continually reexplore the worlds they work in. If you went to The Dock during last year's Festival you might have come across this pavilion created by Timothy Hatton Architects. It has been constructed entirely out of canvas impregnated with concrete. The canvas is formed into shapes and soaked. It hardens into structural strength concrete when dry. The project demonstrated that this material can be rapidly transformed, on site, into small structural units. The units can be easily assembled to create strong, semi-permanent waterproof structures that could be used for disaster relief shelters and other buildings where rapid assembly is... More

I love the textile field, especially after walking and standing 4 hours in the V&A. I'd love to see it stay, and possibly with a few more vibrant colours added to the palette. Mian

sam:

I went to John Pawson's exhibition at Design museum last year.
His sophisticated works were very impressive and inspiring.
I am looking forward to seeing this installation very much.

I like it very much!
It is much easier to find an exact place and information.
I will surely use this calendar for LDF this year!

It collaborated very well with installantion of Ron Arad called curtain call at Roundhouse.

Guest:

I love this calendar - it's really comprehensive and completely relevant. It's the first place I go when looking for something to do at the weekend. Thanks LDF!
