Brixton Design Trail

Brixton Design Trail returns for 2017 with a mission to establish design as part of the everyday by using streets and public spaces as a canvas for art and expression. Under a theme of Love is Power, Brixton will present an inspiring programme which reveals a vibrant community rich in creative talent, identity, culture and heritage.

Brixton Design Trail’s theme of Love is Power will communicate the positive potency of love in promoting acceptance, celebrating difference and nurturing a strong community. We’re on a mission to place art and design into everyday life, to uplift the environment in a series of lasting creative interventions which animate the town centre.

An inspiring programme of installations, exhibitions, workshops, talks and performances will shine a spotlight on our vibrant creative community. Headline installations and events have been conceived to provoke dialogue and interaction, and several will be permanent artworks to create long term positive change.

Established local destinations such as Pop Brixton, Brixton Village Market and The Black Cultural Archives will host installations, as well as emerging venues including a collection of maker workspaces and new creative hub, The Department Store. This year we will also be transforming an unloved corner in the heart of Brixton into a showcase space for up and coming design talent.

Music, eating and drinking are a key part of Brixton’s identity; our food and drink partners will have special discounts and offers during London Design Festival.
