A meeting point in Brompton Design District with coffees and simple bites by Today Bread. Visitors learn about the Brompton programme, access wifi, recharge and relax. Cafe furniture by designers from the Breakfast Pavilion curated by M-L-XL office and research on Brompton’s public realm by DSDHA.

The Brompton Café by Today Bread is a pop up creative space and meeting point for the Brompton Design District serving freshly made coffees, pastries and simple bites. It’s a place for Festival visitors to learn about the Brompton programme ‘Other Stories – alternative perspectives on design’, to access wifi, recharge and relax.

In the café Today Bread invites designers to create a recipe around the theme of Grains. Grains are a staple ingredient not only for the bakery but for our daily life both as a food or material. Together the recipes create a menu for the café and all food is made fresh on site.

The cafe hosts a research project by DSDHA focusing on Brompton's public realm. A scaled model of the Albert Memorial will explore the secret catacomb of passages and rooms beneath this iconic Victorian monument, investigating both its history in connection to the Great Exhibition of 1851, as well as its the potential to contribute to London’s new cultural infrastructure.

Special furniture and tableware for the cafe by several designers involved in the Breakfast Pavilion, a recent highlight of the Venice Biennale, curated by M-L-XL.

The Brompton design district is the leading destination for design in London, with a programme of over forty exhibitions, events and talks during London Design Festival 2017. For details of Brompton events and talks at the The Hour Glass pub during LDF please visit www.bromptondesigndistrict.com

Brompton Design District

The Brompton Design District was the first London Design Festival design district, now ten years old, the programme continues to be a seedbed for experimental design in an area of London known for it's iconic, international design brands.

The cluster of design retailers and global brands joined forces in 2006 with local cultural institutions including the Royal College of Art and the V&A to foster a space where new design can flourish.
