36 weeks 5 days ago
Description

La Maison de la Région Languedoc–Roussillon is to host the first exhibition of contemporary regional French design at their showroom in London during the London Design Festival. With over ten designers on show this exhibition sets out to demonstrate the qualities of the region’s furniture from design innovation to individuality and accessibility.

At the heart of the exhibition will be designs by the late Pierre Paulin, a Languedoc designer, who has had a profound influence on the global design scene. From his use of colour to shape and texture, Paulin’s work exemplifies the very best craftsmanship and creativity from the Languedoc-Roussillon and is a true reflection of what he once claimed “I design with intent”.

In the UK, the region of Languedoc-Roussillon is famed for its wine and food, culture and beauty, but one of its best-kept secrets is the burgeoning design community that is the home to many successful small artisanal companies who design and produce their work in this great area.

From natural resources to hi-tech manufacturing processes, designers have the full complement of tools and materials on their doorstep. Whether they are working in solid wood, wrought iron or rotational moulded polypropylene, these designers demonstrate the full spectrum of skills and creativity.

La Maison de la Région Languedoc–Roussillon is only one of a small group of centres that promote the region to select country partners around the world. On Sud de France Design 2009 It is a hub for everything Languedocienne and is a source for products and business contacts for UK companies and individuals alike who need to know more about the region.
