All things design

The London Design Festival officially launched its annual design extravaganza at a gala reception in the ballroom of the newly renovated Royal Festival Hall ballroom on 17 September.

Over 800 visitors witnessed the award of the Festival’s first Design Medal to the architect Zaha Hadid.  The Medal will be awarded annually to someone who has made a immense contribution to design. Ms Hadid was awarded the medal for her relentless pursuit of perfection in her work by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.

Ben Evans, Director of the London Design Festival, said "the evening was a great launch for the 2007 Festival which promises to be the most diverse and innovative Festival so far."
