London Design Biennale returns in June 2025

5-29 June, early bird tickets on sale now

Tickets on sale now - London Design Biennale will open under the theme of ‘Surface Reflections’.

London Design Biennale's fifth edition, ‘Surface Reflections’, will take place this year from 5-29 June 2025 at Somerset House. An international exhibition championing the importance of design in contemporary life and culture, the Biennale invites exchange and collaboration from leading institutions and figures across the world. It inspires visitors through a journey of world leading design, innovation, and creativity.

The global gathering brings together the public with curated international pavilions and special projects accompanied by a programme of events, thought-leadership talks, performances and workshops – showcasing today’s designers and ideas that will change our world.

This edition's Artistic Director is Dr Samuel Ross MBE, founder of A-COLD-WALL* and SR_A SR_A who has set the theme ’Surface Reflections’, which invites participants, through the medium of design, to explore how expressions of who we are, are shaped.

“Revelations in life are prompted by personal histories that inform who we are – our ideas are fuelled by both our internal experiences and external influences. Together, these form the multifaceted hues of human experience.” - Dr Samuel Ross MBE

Alongside the pavilions and special projects, Eureka, an initiative that spotlights the ground-breaking creative thinking from university research departments, will return to London Design Biennale this year, bringing a selection of interdisciplinary projects demonstrating the breadth and role of design and innovation in creating better futures.

The 2025 edition launches with a new visual identity by world-renowned design studio Pentagram. Using ‘Surface Reflections’ as a starting point, the design team based the identity on the concept of celebrating these hues of human experience. The clean lines and sculptural forms of the bold and colourful geometric design evolve to evoke architectural forms and jewel-like lustre, creating a sense of place and symbolizing how shared global experiences can create a societal moment of unity.

“Searching for a design solution to both support the edition’s theme and represent the different exhibitors' ideas themselves is always an exciting challenge. We landed on a graphic rather than pictorial design solution to enable the idea to work across individual submissions as well as within the spectacular setting of Somerset House. Depending on its use, the colourful graphic mark has a uniquely 2D and 3D expression - which we believe is both celebratory and engaging for the audience and participants alike."- Domenic Lippa, Partner at Pentagram

This year, the Biennale is excited to introduce £10 Youth tickets for visitors aged 16-25 on weekdays, facilitating greater accessibility for young design enthusiasts. In addition to this, limited early bird tickets will provide 50% discount on full price general admission and concessions tickets for all design enthusiasts.
