Back + Forth celebrates the 25th anniversary of twentytwentyone, applauding designs that have inspired and shaped the company while looking ahead to a new era. An exhibition of iconic pieces is accompanied by the global launch of Vaarnii, a bold new Finnish furniture brand with a 'brutal yet sophisticated’ aesthetic.
In Back + Forth, twentytwentyone looks to past and future. Simon Alderson and Tony Cunningham present 25 designs that hold particular meaning to them, presenting a unique and personal insight into their inspirations. This historic overview provides a naturally curated display, rich in diversity by era, material and functionality, and offers visitors a rare opportunity to enjoy an intimate view of the designs that have shaped the world of twentytwentyone. Encompassing furniture, lighting and industrial design, Back + Forth is an assemblage of design pedigree acquired through 25 years of immersion in ground-breaking international design. Many articles will be familiar; some will be obscure and, hopefully, some entirely unknown. Looking ahead, Back + Forth also celebrates the international launch of Vaarnii – the bold new furniture brand setting out to redefine Finland’s design vernacular with its raw materiality, crafted detail, and simple, striking forms. Created by some of the most exciting designers working today, the launch collection features furniture and home accessories crafted in Finland from wild-grown pine.
