We know the myriad benefits of being in nature, but designers are now recognising the value of bringing nature indoors. In a quick-fire ‘meet the makers’ session, some of Roca’s Bio-Spaces exhibitors leading this conversation will explain how they do it, including Blast Studio, Ty Smyl and GENCORK.

We know that people who feel connected to nature are happier, healthier and ultimately more productive, but we don’t have to go outside to experience the myriad benefits that connection can bring. More and more interior designers, architects, planners and developers, as well those at the top of industry, are recognising the value in creating spaces where nature can thrive indoors, be it at home or in the workplace. And with a move towards more regenerative, natural materials creating more circular processes, our Meet the Makers session, as part of the Bio-Spaces exhibition - curated by Planted and Oliver Heath Design - will highlight some of the brands leading this conversation. In a fast-paced series of presentations, brands whose products and materials help bring nature indoors, and designers who create those natural spaces, will each explain in six minutes how they do it and why. Speakers include: TySyml - Adam (Founder). An award-winning experimental design studio from South Wales. Focusing on the use of seaweed and mycelium (mushroom) composites as a material to create products such as lampshades and acoustic wall panels. GENCORK - Brimet Silva (Creative Director) - Portuguese design brand that creates wall coverings and lighting with100% natural and sustainable cork. Using generative design algorithms and advances digital fabrication processes. HagenHindereal - Sophia Hagen (Co-founder) - Design studio that explores the relationship of immersive art and biophilic design. Blending organic, recycled materials with traditional craftsmanship and AI-based additive manufacturing methods to create 3D printed sculptural products. Paul Crofts Studio - Paul Crofts (Founder). An award-winning London based multidisciplinary design studio focusing on contemporary product, furniture, and interior design. Just launched the world's first 100% recycled cork sofa and light therapy chair by MoodLight. Cecoceco - Creators of ArtMorph, luminous wall panels that combine LED lighting and display technology that brings nature connections into the design of interior spaces. Blast Studio - Paolo and Pierre (Co-Founders). Sustainably focused designer maker studio who transform waste into furniture and architecture using robots and living organisms. Host: Sam Peters, Planted Community Register on Roca London Gallery website.
