British lighting designer Joe Armitage and contemporary gallery ESPASSO introduce a special exhibition at this year’s London Design Festival.
Showcasing at Cromwell Place, a first-of-its-kind exhibition space set within five Grade II-listed townhouses in South Kensington, the installation presents the inaugural lighting collection from Joe Armitage paired with select pieces from ESPASSO’s collection of 20th-century and contemporary Brazilian furniture design.
Based on an original lamp created in 1952 by esteemed architect – and Joe’s grandfather – Edward Armitage, the new lighting collection features table lamps and chandeliers.
ESPASSO brings to the exhibition a curated selection with rich design heritage, including pieces by Sergio Rodrigues and Oscar Niemeyer.
The show celebrates the renaissance of a unique modernist design movement 70 years on from the creation of the original designs.
