Mindful Materiality - Meaningful Making is an exhibition by Play Architecture exploring two decades of experiments in stone, earth, and timber. Through panels, models and dialogue, the exhibition reveals how mindful engagement with materials can open regenerative futures.

Mindful Materiality – Meaningful Making Exhibition by Play Architecture This exhibition presents the work of Play Architecture, spanning two decades of reimagining how architecture can emerge from a direct and playful engagement with matter. From innovative stone joinery to experimental vaulting systems and handcrafted timber structures, the work challenges conventional boundaries of craft, tradition, and innovation. Each project is rooted in its context yet forward-looking, asking how materials can hold memory, meaning, and potential for regenerative futures. Highlights include the WAF 2024 award-winning Oh Ho House, which explores new forms of stone joinery and celebrates vernacular craft through bold structural experimentation; and the WAF 2022 award-winning Devadhare Pavilion, defined by its dramatic large-span timbrel vault built with recycled tiles. The exhibition also marks the introduction of Play Architecture’s newly launched London studio, building on two decades of international practice and a design philosophy that is instinctive yet rigorous, local yet global. Rather than presenting architecture as a fixed product, Mindful Materiality – Meaningful Making invites visitors into an open process — a search, a wandering, where buildings are uncovered through dialogue with their materials, makers, and sites. Exhibition Dates: 15–19 September 2025 The Market Building, 72–82 Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R 4RW Entry: Open to all The founders of Play Architecture will be present at selected times to meet visitors, share insights, and continue the conversation.
