Participatory Brickmaking with Taipa Lab

Taipa Lab is the research studio of Victor Pedrosa, whose background spans chemistry, physics and computational neuroscience before turning to ceramics and earth-based construction. Working at the intersection of material science, design and making, the studio explores how industrial by-products and waste streams can be transformed into new ceramic materials and objects. Based in Park Royal, Taipa Lab draws on the extraordinary material landscape surrounding the studio, working with locally sourced clay, wood ash, glass waste, stone dust, coffee grounds, construction by-products and other industrial remnants. Through open research, experimentation and fabrication, the studio develops new recipes and processes that challenge conventional approaches to material production, demonstrating how waste can become a resource for future design.
