During the London Design Festival, we wish to challenge the conventional perception of design and design thinking by inviting practitioners to showcase their own experiments: novel approaches, methods, tools or interventions to provoke and inspire the community.
Held in a Pecha Kucha-style presentation, we are openly inviting anyone who has something different to show. With the advent of AI perpetually entering the scene and the importance of planet-centric thinking in our approach, we are noticing the formation of a playground where designers are experimenting with new techniques and ways of thinking. We wish to give these voices a platform and a space. Tickets cost 3 GBP and all funds will go to a charity announced on the day of the event. How to present? We are looking for a short, light way of people sharing experiments to keep the event casual. Our Pecha Kucha-style presentation means you have a maximum of 10 slides with only 20 seconds to talk per slide. The total length is therefore about 3 ½ minutes, plus a couple of minutes for Q&A, about 6 mins total per person. Pecha Kucha works best with slides with just one simple picture or graphic. You can have as little as one slide only to tell your story. Where? J.P.Morgan Client Centre, 6th Floor 60 Victoria Embankment London EC4Y 0JP When? 19th September at 6-8pm. How to join? If you wish to be one of the speakers, please reach out to Markus Hohl (markushohldesigner@gmail.com) with your application. Please state in the email a brief description of what it is you wish to showcase, and any links you have that demonstrate your approach. Service Design Network is a global not-for-profit organisation aiming to promote and bring together practitioners, researchers and enthusiasts of service design. As the leading institution for expertise in service design and a driver of global growth, development and innovation within the practice, it operates through 50 chapters around the world that bring local communities together. SDN’s UK chapter is one of the earliest ones, with strong presence locally within UK and Ireland.
