The Directors Speak: 15 years of Zaha Hadid Design with Maha Kutay and Woody Yao

Zaha Hadid Design was established in 2006, dedicated to creating fashion and jewellery, furniture and lighting. Under the co-directorship of Woody Yao and Maha Kutay, it has constantly experimented, collaborating with makers around the world to create timeless pieces - because ‘Zaha was always ahead of her time’, as Yao says. Even with over 90 objects on display at The Roca London Gallery exhibition ‘Everything Flows’ (which runs to 22 December), only 20% of their output to date is on show. Maha and Woody look back at the crafting of some of these objects and discuss how their collaborative journey has continued to open their eyes to the potentiality of materials, as one design outcome flows into the inspiration for creating the next.
