Lotus light is a sustainable project with 3D printing techniques by reinterpreting Hanbok and Norigae.
YJ studio, composed of jewellery and furniture designers, has developed sustainable Lotus lighting. Our team reinterpreted traditional hanbok skirts and Norigae with 3D printing techniques to plan our lighting projects. The morphological aspect of the Lotus lighting was inspired by Hanbok, a traditional Korean costume. The traditional elements of Hanbok, such as moderation, consideration, and manners, are symbolically expressed through the use of morphological curves in lighting. This captures the instant movement of the Hanbok skirt, showcasing the beauty of symbolism. Additionally, traditional Norigae, a waist charm, was made of various colours to express different shapes and patterns, adding colourful and delicate beauty to Hanbok costumes. Our team combined Yakgwa, a traditional biscuit, and perfume case Norigae, a traditional perfume container with tassel, and applied these elements to the light. The material used for the lighting is a combination of coffee waste PLA, it can be biodegradable. Our team will continue to make efforts to develop and improve Korea's traditional craft and environment.
