In 2010, the V&A Cast Courts housed an installation by Max Lamb. The London-based designer was commissioned by London Design Festival and HSBC Private Bank to create a piece for HSBC's Connection Collection.

The result was a cast replica of a section of the HSBC Private Bank HQ at 78 St James Street, inspired by the Cast Courts at the V&A. Having created a 'plaster monolith', Lamb worked on it with a hammer and chisel to create a bench for public use. Supported by HSBC Private Bank.
