#wellmade

Curated by Pearson Lloyd, ‘well made’ brings together a diverse array of people and practices to reshape our perception of quality and industry through sustainability. The exhibition combines contributions from industry leaders alongside an array of democratic objects from the design community.

The act of making has driven human and cultural evolution for millennia, elevating our existence and surroundings through ingenuity and innovation. However, in more recent history, this creative process has been monetised, industrialised and globalised. As a result, we are experiencing rapid social, economic and environmental change. In our collective effort to respond to these challenges, there is a need to redefine our cultural understanding of what it means to be ‘well made.’ Curated by Pearson Lloyd, this new exhibition at Yorkton Workshops brings together a diverse array of people and practices to explore ‘well made’ through new forms of production and materiality that respond to the demands of a more ecological future. This exhibition aims to reshape our perception of quality and industry in the context of sustainability. ‘Well made’ combines contributions from industry leaders around the world alongside an array of democratic from the design community submitted via an open call.
