Artisanal Abode

Artisanal Abode

Founded by designer Upasana Jain, Artisanal Abode is a contemporary design studio based in Pune, India, creating collectible furniture, sculptural objects and architectural installations at the intersection of craft, material research and design. The studio is recognised for its pioneering exploration of Weaving in Metal, reinterpreting the ancient craft of basket weaving through stainless steel, brass and copper. Precision-cut metal strips are hand woven by master artisans into tactile surfaces that transform rigid industrial materials into forms of remarkable softness, fluidity and lightness. Through extensive experimentation with weave structures, density, scale and finish, weaving becomes both a structural system and an expressive language. Rooted in India's craft traditions yet driven by innovation, Artisanal Abode creates timeless contemporary works that blur the boundaries between art, design and architecture while redefining the possibilities of handcrafted metal.
