Bamboo Bicycle Club

At the Bamboo Bicycle Club, we empower people to build their own bikes. Founded in London, we've grown into a global community that champions innovative and sustainable cycling. Teaching frame building using our custom design lugs reduces build time and increases accessibility. We selected bamboo for bike construction because it's accessible and suitable. Like timber, bamboo is readily available and easy to craft with simple tools, making it perfect for quick, DIY bike building. It absorbs road vibrations better than other materials, offers excellent strength, and has a natural aerodynamic shape. Additionally, bamboo captures CO2 as it grows, storing carbon as you ride. The majority of bicycles are not built in the countries where they are ridden or by the cyclists themselves. We champion local production crafted by those who need them most. That's why we partner with individuals and educational institutions to establish bamboo bicycle workshops around the world.
