The De La Warr Pavilion is one of Britain’s most significant modernist buildings and a landmark of cultural ambition on the South Coast. Since opening in 1935, it has helped shape the identity and regeneration of Bexhill-on-Sea as both an architectural icon and civic asset. Today, the Pavilion remains a symbol of progressive thinking: a place where architecture and arts support community life. Its terraces, public spaces and seafront setting continue to reflect its founding principles of access, participation and social connection. More than a historic monument, it is an active civic space for creativity, wellbeing and community. With a capital project due to start on site in 2027, we are looking to the next 100 years and securing the Pavilion’s legacy and future.
