Lewis Kane is a Scottish designer with a background in architecture, whose refined design aesthetic elevates natural, recycled and cheap, off-the-shelf materials into creations ranging from kitchen gadgets to furniture and jewellery. His favourite materials include coconut shell, cork, bamboo, bicycle tire inner tubes and, in a pinch, something from the Screwfix catalogue. By using humble materials and minimising waste, Lewis strives to keep the consumer cost and environmental impact low. He has a hybrid approach to working with materials for maximum efficiency, understanding where digital fabrication such as CNC can be used, and where parts of a process need a human touch. His smaller products are available for sale instantly, while his furniture is currently available for pre-order. He is also open to interesting collaborations with like-minded people and opportunities to share and learn from each other.
