Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery was the country retreat of Sir John Soane (1753-1837), one of Britain’s most influential architects. From 1800 to 1804, Soane designed and built it as his dream country home in then rural Ealing within a beautiful Regency landscape. In 2019 Pitzhanger re-opened following a £12m restoration project to return it to Soane’s original designs and now stands as a rare example of a spectacular Soane building. Pitzhanger is also home to an attached contemporary gallery space which houses major exhibition by artists, architects and designers. All responding to Soane’s legacy and designs, exhibitions have included Anish Kapoor, Julian Opie and Grayson Perry.
