Rowena Liangru Lu co-founded Museum Room with XiuMay Lee in 2021. Nestled in the coastal city of Rizhao and spread across 20 acres, Museum Room is a living platform for slow curation - where local culture fuels contemporary practice, and time unfolds at its own pace. Center around the main Museum, the project expands through five interconnected “rooms”: - Cafe Room: a ‘museumy’ café where collected objects quietly speak to visitors; - Guest Room: a boutique hotel that invites guests to sleep amidst stories; - Kiln Room: a ceramicist’s studio, equipped with wood, gas, and electric kilns; - Wood Room: a full wood workshop that doubles as a furniture factory; - Studio Room: a versatile space for workshops, and talks. In LDF 2025, Museum Room unveils its sixth chapter: Living Room - a nomadic art and design salon that gathers people through conversation-driven events - from seminars and workshops to film screenings, all within the realms of art, design, and craft.
