Synthetic State is an Amsterdam-based company designing innovative technology, aiming to harmonize the organic and inorganic worlds. Society has become heavily dependent on technology built with digital computers - all based on simple 1’s and 0’s. However, what we experience as humans, and nature itself, is dynamic and free-flowing like a wave. This disconnect is a growing concern. MAINFRAME, Synthetic State's proprietary processor, is designed to address this concern. Based on fluidic properties, this novel chip intends to adapt to and serve the collective well-being of society and natural ecosystems alike. MAINFRAME is currently focused on sensory-based lighting using colour as its language, aiming to encourage a deeper connection between people and their spaces. Through the design of this empathetic technology, Synthetic State imagines a future where our (otherwise static) environments can become active and expressive participants in our lives.
