Alex Newson

As Chief Curator for Young V&A Alex leads the museum's Collections team and is responsible for the museum's permanent galleries and object collection. Prior to working at the V&A, Alex worked as Senior Curator at London's Design Museum. As well as leading the curatorial teams who redeveloped the galleries at Young V&A and the Design Museum, Alex has curated numerous temporary exhibitions. Including Designs of the Year (the Design Museum's annual survey of the best in contemporary design), Designed to Win (an exhibition celebrating the impact of design on sport) and The Future is Here (an award winning exploration of new digital design trends and manufacturing methods). He has also worked on various retrospective exhibitions, including the designers Dieter Rams and Hella Jongerius, and architects Louis Kahn and David Adjaye. Alex writes and contributes to various books, journals and magazines, commentating on wide-ranging themes relating to design and museum theory.
