Ali Eslami is a researcher at Google DeepMind studying artificial intelligence and its application to the other sciences. On the AI side he leads a team that works on generative AI, self-supervised learning, and multi-modal models. On the science side he leads the AI for quantum chemistry team. Previously he was a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge. He did his PhD in machine learning at the University of Edinburgh, and was also a visiting researcher at Oxford University in the visual geometry group. Outside AI, he paints and held his first solo exhibition in London in 2022.
