Mario Balducci

Mario Balducci is an accomplished practicing architect and a key figure at Article 25, the UK’s leading humanitarian architectural NGO dedicated to designing and delivering resilient schools, homes and hospitals in some of the world's most disaster-prone regions. Driven by a passion for using architecture as a tool for positive social change, Mario runs vital projects in Rwanda and Nepal. This includes the Anandaban Hospital where Article 25 has been involved in its planning and reconstruction following the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. Before Article 25, Mario’s primary focus was managing projects on the ground in Ethiopia, which included navigating the complexities of the civil strife that started in 2016, the civil war that started in 2020 and emergencies that persist to this day. Today, Mario’s work exemplifies the transformative power of architectural design to meet urgent needs while fostering long-term resilience and empowerment in communities facing challenging contexts.
