Mehmet Kalyoncu

Committed to fostering Türkiye’s socio-economic development through the lens of design, Mehmet Kalyoncu founded the Türkiye Design Council with associates in 2016 to support Türkiye becoming a country that values design and protects designers. The NGO aims to contribute to the social and economic development of Türkiye with a design-oriented approach, providing design and planning services while supporting the development of young designers. Kalyoncu is currently working with it to support the design-led revitalisation of the cities of Hatay and Adıyaman following the February 2023 Türkiye earthquake. Kalyoncu studied Architecture at Istanbul Technical University, Renaissance Architecture at Oxford University, and joined executive programs at Harvard, Tufts and Babson. Kalyoncu has worked at various levels in subsidiaries of Kalyon Holding, the major Turkish construction conglomerate, where he is a Board Member and played a key role in the development of iGA Istanbul Airport.
