Rosa Whiteley is an artist, designer and researcher with a background in architecture. Her practice explores the ecological and political conditions of water, land, atmosphere and infrastructure, with a particular focus on chalk aquifers, wetlands, food systems and material ecologies. Working across installation, writing, film, material design, fieldwork and collaborative research, she explores processes of extraction, cultivation, decay and maintenance, and the ways environmental histories shape contemporary landscapes. Rosa is currently Design Researcher in Residence at the Design Museum, where she is developing Chalkophiles, tracing the chalk aquifers of southern England through ponds, winterbournes, tools, maps and public workshops. She is also Director of Material Research at CLIMAVORE CIC in Skye and Raasay, and co-founder of TUFF, a London-based design and research group. From 2020–25, she worked with Cooking Sections on projects exploring how food organises the environment.
