Come one, come all to celebrate the launch of Absolute Beginners’ latest product: the 100 Year Dustpan! The dustpans are designed and made by local young people, using reclaimed scrap metal from old gas boilers. Each one comes with a guarantee: “lasts longer than you do, or your money back!”.

Absolute Beginners is a new kind of factory in Park Royal, where young people learn how to make everyday products in radically sustainable ways. We teach 17–21-year-olds to make a new product from scratch, using waste materials, hand tools, and low-carbon power - and we pay them London Living Wage to do it. The 100 Year Dustpans have been designed and made by a group of young people led by artist Shanayah Dadral. We want to help these young people get the skills they need for the jobs they want, at the same time as asking: how can we make the things we need in ways that don’t cook the planet?
