The Doddington and Rollo Community Roof Garden opens its doors for the day for LDF audiences to discover this diverse, thriving community garden at the heart of the Doddington and Rollo estate in Battersea. Featuring a talk from James Smith, whose entry into the Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by London Square and inspired by the Doddington and Rollo Community Roof Garden, won gold this year. Key elements of the London Square Community Garden were donated to Doddington following the Chelsea Flower show. The installation is now complete and visitors will be able to see it in its new home for the first time. Visitors are welcome to drop into the Doddington and Rollo Community Roof Garden throughout the 20th September, where a small exhibition will explain the work that happens in the garden and how people can get involved in volunteering if they would like to. At 3pm and 4pm there will be a 30 minute talk with James Smith who will discuss the process of design for a high-end show, when the objective is to create a garden that can fit into an existing, diverse community garden, including issues of maintenance and how design can meaningfully contribute the community. The garden will be open from 10am-5pm for visitors on a drop in basis. The talks are ticketed to help us get a sense of numbers but we are likely to be able to accommodate drop ins for the talks too.
