The workshop includes a light brunch for guests. Ages 5+ welcome.
This September, as part of London Design Week 2024, ‘Flying in Nuanced Colours’ arrives at Uncommon Holborn – a vibrant, immersive and large-scale series of installations, designed by renowned paper-sculptor, Pauline Loctin. Known for her captivating creations that breathe life into paper, the bespoke commission from the B Corp certified workspace provider blends origami with multiple dimensions, merging traditional craft and contemporary art. The colour choices for the installations feature Chartreuse and Hot Pink, chosen specifically as two of the world’s favourite colours. Working exclusively with G . F Smith paper, who led the research for the colour choices, the artwork celebrates the rich tapestry of creativity found within the busy capital city. Charting new territories of chromatic expression, Pauline’s use of colour and way in which she folds paper is not merely a visual sensation but a language unto itself. With each delicate fold and clever contour, Pauline breathes life into her creations, evoking the grace of butterflies, the rustle of leaves and in the case of ‘Flying in Nuanced Colours’, the flutter of birds. Guests to the event are invited for a morning of play and creation, as the artist provides a hands-on experience celebrating this ancient craft. Known for its meditative effects that focus on the power of imagination, the event will be complemented by a specially curated musical experience. A sensorial moment that brings to life colour and creativity in abundance, inspired by the qualities and colours of G . F Smith paper that forms the base of the installations. A joyful event for all the family in which inspiration unfolds. Uncommon strives to create the best possible workspaces for its members, not only harnessing natural light and greenery, but the power of art to enhance productivity and encourage creativity. Pauline’s sensory installation for Uncommon Holborn does just this. Situated within the brand's newest, and largest site, Uncommon Holborn, the business continues to progress their strong and credible Environmental, Social and Governance agenda to drive positive impact.
