Global Design Forum: Speculative Certainties

Among the many experiences that design and the ‘designed’ seek to offer, the most immediate impressions come from its most tangible expression—material, geometry, form, texture. Yet, the ones that stay with users often have the intangible—memory, culture, emotion, temporarily—associated with them. This talk is set to explore both tangible and intangible evocations that design may offer, and how a maker’s hand is expressed through medium. How can design as a process harness both for more personable outcomes? Can memory render materiality with more meaning, or is it the other way around? With thanks to our Curatorial Partner STIR and Programme Partner Lotus.
