Bert & May announces A Lasting Imprint, a new tile collection created in collaboration with Sister by Studio Ashby. Bringing together Sophie Ashby's narrative-led approach to design with Bert & May's handcrafted expertise, the collection explores the enduring relationship between craft, home and the stories we create.
Inspired by folklore, the collection is shaped by three wild creatures, as imagined by Sophie: Mansaa the Lion, Volo the Bird and Naom the Rabbit, representing three virtues which in part form the root of the Sister brand; courage, joy and empathy. The collection follows the motifs as they move through the natural world, leaving their symbolic imprints behind captured in fired clay.
Each glazed design is made using traditional techniques, celebrating the subtle variations, texture and individuality that define Bert & May's collections. Just as no two stories are the same, no two tiles are identical, creating surfaces that feel tactile and rich with character.
The collection is available in four distinct colourways - Aloe and Savanna, Mimosa and Chamomile, Salix and Miombo, and Calabash and Pomegranate, reflecting the warmth and richness of the natural world. Each 10 × 10cm motif tile is paired with two coordinating plain tiles of the same size in lighter and darker tones, allowing Mansaa, Volo and Noam to be balanced with fields of solid colour or used to create more immersive, pattern-led schemes.
Together, they create a collection that is whimsical yet timeless, offering endless opportunities for mixing and layering. Designed for use throughout the home, each tile brings warmth, individuality and meaning to both contemporary and traditional interiors alike. Whether used as a subtle detail or across larger architectural surfaces, these tiles create spaces that feel characterful and enduring.
A Lasting Imprint reflects a shared belief between Bert & May and Sophie Ashby that the objects we live with should be made to last. The collection becomes part of new stories, rituals and memories, witnessing generations gathering, growing and living together.
Lee Thornley, Founder of Bert & May, says, "At Bert & May, we've always believed that tiles have a story to tell. Working with Sophie and the Sister by Studio Ashby team has allowed us to create a collection that feels artistic and expressive while staying true to the craftsmanship and character that defines everything we do. These are tiles designed to be part of the story of a home."
Sophie Ashby, Founder of Sister by Studio Ashby, says, "I've always loved the idea that the smallest details in a home can have the biggest impact. Tiles are something you live with every day, so why shouldn't they make you smile? We wanted to create a collection that feels playful and expressive, while still being timeless enough to become part of people's homes and their stories for years to come.”
