Join Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s London studio during London Design Festival 2026 for 'Change: 40 Years of SOM London', a new exhibition at Marylebone Hall celebrating four decades of the studio’s work and exploring the ideas, technologies and approaches shaping the future of design.
Rooted in collaboration, curiosity and the exchange of ideas, the exhibition considers design as a cultural practice and a shared process through which communities, technologies and environments evolve. Organised into four chapters—Our Practice, Design, Society and Economy—the exhibition brings together four decades of SOM London’s work with current research and projects from across the global practice.
Together, the chapters trace the evolution of SOM’s approach and explore how design can respond to today’s challenges through new ideas in technology, materials and construction. From regenerative buildings inspired by natural systems and habitats designed for life beyond Earth, to low-carbon materials and innovative approaches to fabrication, the projects on display reflect SOM’s ongoing search for better ways to design and build.
