Ordinary Beginnings. Extraordinary Possibilities. Every artist begins in obscurity. Before recognition, before institutions, before audiences, there is simply the decision to continue making work. Small, Still is an exhibition about that moment.

Rather than celebrating success as a destination, the exhibition celebrates the act of beginning—the persistence of artists who continue to create despite uncertainty, limited resources, and the absence of visibility. It proposes that artistic value is not defined by scale, reputation, or commercial success, but by the ability of a work to shift perception, provoke reflection, or quietly remain with its audience. In contemporary culture, visibility has increasingly become a measure of value. Algorithms reward popularity, markets reward recognition, and attention is often mistaken for significance. Small, Still questions these assumptions by turning our attention towards practices that are modest in scale but ambitious in thought. The exhibition brings together emerging artists working across photography, painting, sculpture, installation, moving image, design, and mixed media. While their practices differ, they share a common condition: they are all at the beginning of their journeys, continuing to make work before certainty, recognition, or stability.
