Rosie Reed Gold Unveils Plans and Events for ‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed’: A London Design Festival Exhibition at Hart Shoreditch

Hart Shoreditch is delighted to announce further details about its upcoming London Design Festival 2025 partnership with Rosie Reed. Drawing inspiration from her English and Philosophy studies, Rosie’s art traces the interplay of thought and action. The exhibition ‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed” celebrates the written history of East London. Drawing inspiration from the rich history of local literary hotspots, Rosie celebrates both the function and craft of writing. ‘Stage Left, Letter Pressed’ maps the evolution of language and its impact on East London. Specifically, Rosie focuses on the Curtain theatre and the Caslon Letterpress Foundry. Built in 1577, the Curtain theatre hosted many of Shakespeare’s earlier works, including Romeo and Juliet. Though closed in the 17th-century, the theatre has become symbolic with the popularity of Shakespeare’s work and the thriving theatre culture in Elizabethan England. The Caslon Letterpress Foundry, founded in the 18th-century, was long-regarded as the oldest and most prestigious type foundry in London. Known for refined craftsmanship, the Chiswell Street foundry was at the helm of the printing scene in London. Rosie’s exhibition captures the value of the craft, performance, and history of written word in East London. Involving installation, video, sound and interactive pieces, it is not just a show, but a collaboration between the artist, the hotel, and its guests. Hart Shoreditch is excited to work with Rosie and once again join the London Design Festival and Shoreditch Design Triangle to celebrate the area’s creative energy and support local artists and designers. There will be a number of events taking place throughout September including launch events, panel talks, theatre based activities and workshops.
