Following the success of our 2024 London Design Festival showcase, we’re bringing a new exhibit to the 2025 event. This year’s exhibition will spotlight the boundary-pushers, the material innovators reshaping the future of industrial design. From bio-based alternatives to circular systems.
Industrial design is the practice of meeting human needs by shaping materials, creating processes, and defining systems. In doing so, design is inherently built on shaping the very environment in which it exists. Considering 80% of a product’s environmental impact is established at the design stage, doing this well is ever more critical. This exhibition explores how, by rethinking the materials we use, and the way we shape and distribute them, we can rethink our very practice, and challenge ourselves to create products and systems that are more purposeful and thoughtful. Allowing nature to lead the way, we are exploring materials built for regeneration, processes that reduce extraction, and systems to extend and improve the life of products and the resources from which they are derived. We are inviting better practice, and opening the pathways to a more responsible future where the value of our products, our lives and our planet are more closely related. What's on show: The core of the messaging centres around the material coming from nature to go back to nature. Communicating this is fundamental to our exhibition, we want to show material in the following states: Natural substrate (organic matter pre-processing) Pelletised Formed Sample Decomposing sample Fully decomposed sample We plan to show a range of x5 material collaborators that we have worked with past and present. We will also be hosting talks around the theme of applied material innovation and would love to have representation from your company on a panel to further discuss the material on show. Tickets: 17th - 20th September - General exhibition tickets are free of charge 16th - 20th September - Talks and events priced individually to reserve limited spaces
