George Hardie is one of Britain’s most influential illustrators, graphic designers and educators. His work has shaped the visual culture of music, publishing and public life. By combining wit, precision and exceptional graphic clarity, he has created some of the most iconic and memorable visuals. Showcasing a collection of his work, from early handmade sketches and unused concepts to finished products, the exhibition is organised into four thematic chapters. Findings in Society traces people, culture, and the built environment. Findings in Nature turns to plants, gardens, and the patterns of the natural world. Findings in Books gathers his self-published works, revealing his wit and design instincts. Findings in Music showcases the iconic imagery he created for legends such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. George Hardie once said, “I notice things and I get things noticed.” This exhibition invites visitors to do the same. Through these findings, we uncover not only the observations that shaped his work, but the person behind them.
