Harnessing the Unmade

Harnessing the Unmade is Sunra’s London Design Festival 2026 programme, bringing a global creative competition into a live exhibition of film, image and emerging creative practice. Centred on digital craftsmanship, it explores how artists expand their toolkit, shape new visual languages and turn imagination into compelling work. The programme began with an international open call for works of 1 to 5 minutes across five categories: commercial, short film, experimental work, music video and visual effects. Created using Sunra or other digital tools, entries were assessed on creativity, visual quality, narrative and the thoughtful use of technology. The final selection celebrates 30 works, comprising five winners and 25 nominees. Running from 10 to 15 September at The Handbag Factory in London, the programme encompasses an opening night on 11 September, industry talks and a screening on 12 September, and a workshop led by Pablo Rivera on 13 September. The exhibition brings together artists and studios ELLA, Shadra Ali, Shanshan Jiang, Jiawei (Karwai) Liang, imoliver, Mike Bennion, Zhiyue Ding, DIDI Lab, Nikki_personality, Song Dongqi, Agil Munawar, Wang Yihui, Jiahui Shi, Yekaterina (tbilisiai), Navia AI Studio, QiRifky, lonyein, Yichu Li, Yiqiao Wang / Mei SENSE, Chen Yu-Meng, Telle, Dan Temirov, reon labs, Ty Zhang, Daniele Cazzola, Roubitstudio, Native / luceo non uro, WU Yifan, and Faderera Wahab, alongside visual artist Wenbin Sun.The jury comprises Zan Xie, Pablo Rivera, Ara Badiia, Justin Hackney, Vlad Dita, Jack Irving, Kadine James, WildPusa, Brandon Chin, Kye Taliana, and Rita Rahimi. Executive Curators Yanru Hu and Yunxia Jiang support the exhibition’s curation and delivery, helping bring the exhibition and its creative community together. At its heart, Harnessing the Unmade is a meeting place for artists, filmmakers, designers and creative leaders exploring how authorship, craft and culture evolve through digital practice. It celebrates the human judgement, experimentation and care that give each work its distinct voice.
