[ yo: ] project in London, presented by HiFuMiYo and counting... We are here to showcase and promote Japanese crafts with a focus on circularity and the longevity of pieces.
- The introduction to 葉[ yo: ] - [ yo: ] has been successfully operating in Japan since 2024, promoting Japanese craft and art with a focus on circularity and the longevity of pieces, organising pop-up events and shops. Notably, the first event in Tokyo, held in a quiet corner of the city in an old Japanese house surrounded by greenery, was a success. The theme of this particular event was to support makers who have been affected by a devastating earthquake occurred at the beginning of the same year. The area of Wajima, Ishikawa is well known for its wood turning and lacquerware crafts. As this event also marked the inception of [ yo: ], it led to name the brand, 葉[yo:]; this single character lies the depiction of life’s unbroken thread - a connection that transcends generations, never severed. This idea of an “unbroken thread” has deeply resonated with its vision. - The introduction to HiFuMiYo and counting... - We are an organisation based in London, promoting and spreading traditional Japanese craft, “KO: GEI. We’re here to not only present products, but also to introduce possibilities, skills and technique of those we represent. Our aim is to connect designers and architects to our Japanese craft makers. Providing opportunities for the makers to expand beyond Japan. Ultimately this will help promote the longevity of Japanese craft industry as whole. For London Design Festival, we come together to bring a quiet corner of Tokyo -nestled beneath trees- to London. On display would be tools for daily use, hand picked and curated by [ yo: ] and HiFuMiYo team. A serene space, filled with beautiful crafts and everyday tools, where even time seems to slow down. This space celebrates the methods and processes of traditional Japanese craftmanship. The makers we represent in this exhibition are makers from all corners of Japan, living and breathing their generational heritage. Traces of their touch and their stories remain in every piece. We are excited to invite you to experience our space and introduce you to the beauty of Japanese crafts. Email us below to register your interest.
