At a time when objects are often mass-produced for ever more sophisticated forms of consumption, the works in this exhibition focus on design as an act of responding first.
Design does not occur in a vacuum. It is an ongoing dialogue; a reaction, in physical form, to the pressures, memories, and habits that define our daily lives.
InResponse brings together emerging designers to present design not as a practice of object making, but as an active agent of inquiry. Rather than adhering to a singular role, the exhibition explores how objects answer to real world friction across three distinct pillars:
•
ECHO
The reverberation of diaspora, memory, and heritage within modern spaces. For us, Echo is about lineage and living narratives, giving physical form to ancestral rituals, personal stories, folklore, and inherited crafts that persist, adapt, and find new resonance across borders.
•
MATTER
A dialogue with the raw behaviour, physical limits, and integrity of substance. For us, Matter is the deliberate engagement with material constraints, informed and guided by unstandardised geometries, natural forces, workshop wisdom, and industrial waste streams to uncover authentic forms through the act of making.
•
SYNC
The alignment between the human body, mind, and spatial boundaries. For us, Sync is an inquiry into living friction, developing adaptive, sensory, and inclusive interventions responding to the way we move, focus, interact with technology and life.
