Renowned for their collections of outdoor furniture, melding design and manufacturing expertise, all craftsman-made in Hampshire, B Corp Gaze Burvill now launches Meon, a collection of furniture for interior use, with high environmental and ethical credentials.

B-Corp accreditation in the Spring, followed by certification for ‘Grown in Britain’, and now the launch of new label Meon: 2024 will have been a year of three milestones for Hampshire furniture specialists Gaze Burvill. Renowned for their collections of outdoor furniture, melding design and manufacturing expertise, and all craftsman-made in Hampshire, they now launch Meon, a collection of furniture for interior use, with high environmental and ethical credentials. Meon will use ash wood from very close by - much from the countryside surrounding the workshop, and increasingly also certified ‘Grown-in-Britain’. After the design and CNC machining of complex components, often twisting, and using digital reproduction of scanned forms, more old-school crafts person's skills, like steam-bending then make an entrance - one Meon chair has a component with five steam bends in two axes, which mirror exactly - technically impressive, but actually very understated in appearance. Furniture, beautifully made to stand the test of time, and chairs that are comfortable and practical, as well as handsome, have been hallmarks of Gaze Burvill, and Meon will work to the same rigorous standards. Because the design, prototyping and manufacturing teams are all based at the Hampshire site, not to mention customer and sales support, the result is a professional, responsive and cohesive service. Parent company Gaze Burvill, using sustainably sourced oak and sweet chestnut for its collections of outdoor furniture and kitchens, has been a favourite of the garden design community, with several Design Guild Marks and RHS Awards. Meon, for interior use, and aimed at specifiers from the architect and interior design community, as well as the design-minded private customer, has been several years in development. Founder Simon Burvill, trustee of charity Woodland Heritage, explains: “The B Corp mission is to make business ‘a force for good in the world’. It is my own mission to make Meon succeed in that challenge, and be part of the new wave of British furniture design, responsibly sourced and superbly manufactured in the UK.” Meon will launch in LDF week in the Gaze Burvill showroom at 2 Garrison Square, Chelsea Barracks, SW1 8BG, 2 minutes from Pimlico Road, with a special launch breakfast and expert panel discussion on Thursday 19th September.
