Come enjoy low carbon Chinese dishes developed by London’s East and South East Asian communities and food writers! A pop-up space in Chinatown, built from low carbon materials and processes, will host a series of sit-down tastings, discussions and talks about the data science of climate change and Chinese food culture

Come join us in tackling the Climate Crisis with food and cooking! We are excited to invite you to a series of delicious, interactive and performative sit down tastings and short talks over four days from 17-20th September – featuring no less than three delicious low carbon dishes chosen and developed by London’s East and South East Asian communities alongside a data scientist and acclaimed Asian food writers MiMi Aye, Uyen Luu and Shu Han Lee. A pop-up structure will be installed in London Chinatown as part of London Design Festival 2022. Built from low carbon materials and processes, the structure will host a series of sit-down tastings, discussions and talks on the data science of climate change, Chinese heritage and food culture. Low Carbon Chinatown is a project by designer, artist and CAN Associate Artistic Director, Ling Tan. The low carbon pop up structure is designed by Ling Tan and designer Usman Haque, with the support of structural engineers Atelier One. - Low Carbon Chinatown Tasting Menu - All dishes will be prepared by one of our featured professional food writers and cooks: Hainanese Chicken Rice – A low carbon interpretation of a perennial favourite Asian dish – with chicken still included! *gluten-free, contains allergens such as milk, soy Sweet and Sour ‘Pork’ (Vegetarian) – No one misses pork once they taste this! *contains gluten and allergens such as soy, sesame, eggs, peppers, pineapples Wonton Dumpling Soup (Vegetarian) – Who doesn't love dumplings? *contains gluten and allergens such as soy, eggs Accompanied with a choice of white rice and/or chicken rice. Plain water will be provided. This is a communal meal. Apologies, but we are unfortunately unable to cater for specific dietary requests for this event. Refund policy and accessibility: We do not want the cost of tickets to be a barrier to participation. The pop up structure will still be on site if you are interested to see it. The Low Carbon Chinatown pop up and sit down tastings on 17th, 18th and 20th will be going ahead as planned.**
