Riolab Ceramics is a London-based design studio founded by Chilean industrial designer Paulina Moreno Rios. With a background in Industrial Design, the studio explores the intersection between technology and traditional craft, creating ceramic pieces that are both sculptural and functional.
Working primarily with coloured porcelain, Paulina develops objects that celebrate form, texture and colour. Her process balances technological experimentation with artisanal craftsmanship, combining mould-making, slip-casting and hand-finishing.
For London Design Festival 2026, Riolab will present pieces from the Dune and Terrazzo Collections, exploring how colour, texture and form can shape the character of an object.
Dune is inspired by the desert landscapes of northern Chile, where Paulina grew up. Organic forms are translated into porcelain objects including vases, bowls and candle holders, exploring the relationship between landscape, sculpture and everyday function. The collection reflects the time and care involved in making each piece, from creating the moulds to finishing the surfaces by hand.
The Terrazzo Jewellery Boxes explore colour and pattern through a terrazzo marbling technique, giving each piece a unique surface and variation. While the forms remain consistent, the making process allows every box to become a distinct object.
Across the collections, Riolab combines contemporary design approaches with artisanal techniques, using porcelain to explore individuality, materiality and the relationship between form and function.
