Save Me!! Internet Angel by Chiffon Magazine explores how early internet culture shaped Alternative Japanese fashion. Through art, media, and community, this 2-day exhibition traces JFashion’s digital roots and includes a small market for alt goods.
Save Me!! Internet Angel is a multimedia exhibition exploring the entanglement between early internet culture and Alternative Japanese fashion (JFashion) subcultures. From Gyaru to Lolita to Decora, Visual Kei to Fairy Kei, JFashion has long offered space for radical self-expression both online and offline. Rooted in the aesthetics of 2000s–2010s digital culture such as forums, blogs, pixel graphics, and low-res uploads, the exhibition reflects on how these styles travelled, transformed, and thrived across continents through digital communities. Bringing together creators from around the world, the exhibition showcases how this community, both online and offline, has personally shaped and inspired them through their works. For 2 days only, a curated marketplace will feature clothing, accessories, and goods from London-based creators and Japanese fashion brands, extending the themes of the show into a tactile experience. The programme also includes an alternative film screening and the debut of Swarm Axes 05 in collaboration with Solo Show. Curated and produced by Chiffon Magazine for London Design Festival 2025, it is not a retrospective but a portal: a glitching timeline that celebrates the creative resilience of subcultures and the threads of digital culture that continue to shape self-expression today. Save Me!! Internet Angel is proudly sponsored by Oekaki Connect with generous zine loans from Global Kawaii Association.
