The Chant Chambers

For London Design Festival 2026, Lee Broom will unveil The Chant Chambers, an installation dedicated to the continuing evolution of Chant, one of the designer’s most celebrated lighting pieces. Presented within Lee Broom's Shoreditch showroom, The Chant Chambers will mark the evolution of Chant from a singular lighting design into a complete family of illuminated forms. Expanding upon the original chandelier and the award-winning Chant Portable lamp, the collection will now include oversized chandelier compositions, sculptural wall lights, linear pendants and architectural lighting structures that can extend continuously throughout an interior. The Rivington Street space will be transformed into a series of distinct chambers, each dedicated to a different interpretation of Chant. Moving through the installation, visitors will encounter individual environments that explore the collection through varying scales, atmospheres and narratives. Among the new additions are expansive square formations that transform Chant into large-scale illuminated planes, alongside linear compositions that introduce a new architectural dimension to the design. Individual sections can be connected at right angles to create continuous lighting structures, offering highly customisable installations that range from simple geometric arrangements to ambitious sculptural statements. The collection will also be presented for the first time in a new smoked glass finish. Rich in atmosphere, the darker tone enhances the depth and character of Chant's illuminated glass blocks, reinforcing the collection's connection to the glamour and sophistication of late-night 1970s interiors. The exhibition will mark the latest chapter in the story of Chant, first unveiled as part of Lee Broom's Divine Inspiration collection during Milan Design Week 2022. Inspired by the architectural glass blocks synonymous with modernist and late twentieth-century interiors, Broom transformed the familiar building material into a contemporary sculptural lighting form. In doing so, he helped establish a design direction that has since gained significant momentum, with glass blocks, translucent materials and geometric glass structures now increasingly emerging as defining features of modern interiors. Through this latest reimagining, Lee Broom continues to explore the relationship between light, art, architecture and atmosphere, demonstrating how a single design concept can evolve into an expansive and enduring body of work.
