The Dining Room by Space Copenhagen for &Tradition

For Autumn 2023 &Tradition launches new designs by the Danish architecture and design studio Space Copenhagen. Collect continues to add to its range of home accessories with the addition of richly textured, handcrafted rugs, as well as a modern take on the classic maritime lantern silhouette with Hurricane and Trace, a storage piece designed as an elegant frame to display cherished items. The new designs, along with the refined objects and furniture from the duo's existing collection, will come together to form an intimate private dining space, The Dining Room - designed by Space Copenhagen in &Tradition's London showroom, located next to St James’ Park. The Dining Room is an open space with a large inviting table at the centre. The setting is invitational, encouraging visitors to sit down, lounge and mingle. The ambiance is reminiscent of being at a friend’s home and an alluring aroma of herbs, plants, fruit and vegetables fills the air. The walls are adorned with Trace cabinets filled with functional kitchen equipment, tableware, and crafted utilities – weaved in and amongst other more personal objects which project a warm, intimate atmosphere. The new designs: Trace by Space Copenhagen Trace, a display cabinet made from an oak frame and glass paneled doors has a classic silhouette with a contemporary expression, providing storage and an elegant frame to display cherished items. The name ‘Trace’ was chosen to reflect the concept of collecting and the pieces of our lives these items represent. The cabinet, then, works as an extension of these traces, allowing us to showcase our most treasured items in a frame that blends seamlessly into any room. Collect Hurricane by Space Copenhagen Described by Space Copenhagen as “framing the poetic nature of candlelight,” Hurricane offers a soft flicker of light that adds warmth and depth to both residential and commercial environments, indoor and outdoor. Hurricane holds a strong and elegant presence fit for adding ambiance to spas, hotels, restaurant terraces, and positioned around the home garden, on its own or in clusters. The sturdy, elevated base of the lamp gives a tapered or block candle centre stage, while the minimalist design ensures cohesion with the rest of the Collect collection. Collect Rugs by Space Copenhagen The new rugs, crafted from a blend of New Zealand wool and recycled polyester come in three organic hues: Milk, Caramel, and Stone. The muted tones married with the elevated quality of the textile results in rugs that are unobtrusive and visually binding, lending softness and warmth. The Collect rugs are crafted by skilled artisans in Bikaner, India, with the undyed natural wool woven on a handloom. The work and expertise invested into each rug underscores the artistry of the piece that can be found in both Collect’s design as well as the weaving process itself.
