THE WORLD ENDS: is an invitation to ask what comes next. Bangkok’s new international platform for design, culture and ideas brings together designers, architects, artists, thinkers, technologists, institutions and creative communities from Thailand and around the world. The title is deliberately provocative. THE WORLD ENDS: is not about the end of everything. It is about the space between one world ending and another beginning. At a moment shaped by accelerating technology, environmental, economic, and social change, THE WORLD ENDS: asks us to push beyond what design already knows — beyond established disciplines, familiar solutions, and accepted conventions — towards new approaches, new technologies, new theories, and new possibilities. Design has always responded to change. But this moment asks for more than adaptation. It asks us to imagine, question, experiment — and ultimately, CREATE WHAT MATTERS. HERE → BETWEEN → ELSEWHERE → CREATE WHAT MATTERS THE WORLD ENDS: unfolds as a journey from understanding the present towards imagining what might come next. HERE asks us to understand where we stand — our identities, places, cultures, materials and communities. BETWEEN confronts the forces transforming our lives — technology, AI, climate, cities, education, work and the systems connecting them. ELSEWHERE moves beyond the familiar, exploring speculative futures, alternative systems and possibilities that may not yet have names. Finally, CREATE WHAT MATTERS moves us from observation towards participation — asking not only what can we design next, but why should it exist, who should it serve, and what might it leave behind? AT THE LIMITS OF DESIGN THE WORLD ENDS: is interested in what happens at the edges of established practice. What happens when architecture meets technology? When craft encounters new systems of production? When culture, music, fashion, art, cities, and design influence one another? What happens when emerging technologies give us tools previous generations could not have imagined? What happens at the limits of design? And what becomes possible when we cross them? Participants are invited not simply to present what they have already achieved, but to propose what might come next. Not another version of the world we already know. Something beyond it. A STRANGE ATTRACTOR THE WORLD ENDS: can be understood as a strange attractor — a point where seemingly unrelated disciplines, cultures, technologies, generations and ideas are drawn together. Designers meet architects. Artists meet technologists. Industry meets experimentation. Local knowledge meets global perspectives. Established voices meet the next generation. Through talks, conversations, exhibitions, pavilions, installations and unexpected encounters, THE WORLD ENDS: creates a place for ideas to collide, evolve and perhaps become something none of us could have predicted alone. The ambition is not to provide definitive answers. It is to create a place for better questions. WHY BANGKOK? WHY NOW? Bangkok is entering a significant new cultural and creative moment — a city where old and new, formal and informal, analogue and digital, local and global continually overlap. Its diversity, creative energy and emerging cultural spaces make Bangkok not simply the location of THE WORLD ENDS:, but an essential part of its proposition: a meeting point for new design dialogue and an increasingly important platform within Asia’s creative landscape. It is an appropriate place to ask: Where are we now? What are we becoming? And what should we create next?
