Globally renowned British designer Tom Dixon's exhibition for London Design Festival focuses on the brand's exciting new Portable lights. Visitors are invited to explore the studio's Headquarters in King’s Cross and immerse themselves in the worlds of portability, miniaturisation and rechargeability.

Often associated with sculptural statement pendant lamps or huge space-filling chandeliers, Tom Dixon is now making a surprise move toward the miniature. The designer’s latest venture is the Portables, a series of small, battery-powered lamps that takes its cue from his most recognised designs. Tom says: 'The Portables were inspired by the changing demands of society. They symbolize the general shift towards flexibility and blurred boundaries between work and play, indoor and outdoor settings and increased flexibility in all our electrical devices, including personal transport, communication, entertainment, and more.’ Other highlights at the brand's hub in Coal Drops Yard include: a home-cinema room and broadcasting studio powered by Sony and residencies from Tom Dixon Alumni, Resident and Cozmo, surprise giveaways and a party powered by Champagne brand Lallier (invitation only) on Wednesday 20th September with Teenage Engineering, the Swedish company specialising in ultra-portable music devices. The HYPERMOBILE exhibition will be accompanied by a series of events, talks and workshops. More details on the event schedule for London Design Festival will be unveiled soon. Follow the studio’s exciting plans on @Tomdixonstudio and Tomdixon.net HYPERMOBILE is free and open to the public.
