Master potter Eric Landon of TORTUS lands in London for a special exhibition and live demonstration evening at Studio Pottery London. A curated showcase of hand-thrown vessels where tradition meets innovation in slow-crafted ceramic forms that push creative boundaries.
As a world-class pottery studio, Studio Pottery London attracts some of the world’s most celebrated names in ceramics. For this year’s London Design Festival, the studio is proud to host Eric Landon, founder of the renowned Copenhagen-based studio TORTUS. This exclusive showcase invites visitors to immerse themselves in the artistry of hand-thrown ceramics. Celebrated for its profound respect for materials and tradition, TORTUS simultaneously pushes creative boundaries to craft vessels that are both exquisitely functional and artistically refined. Explore a carefully curated selection from the TORTUS collection, where each piece is rendered with meticulous care and individuality. The exhibition honours the subtle variations and textures unique to handmade ceramics, embodying a deliberate, slow-crafted philosophy that reveres materiality and heritage while embracing contemporary innovation. As part of the exhibition, Eric will host a live demonstration evening, showcasing his skill in wheel-throwing and sharing his holistic approach to working with clay. This rare opportunity offers an intimate view of his craft in the stunning, modern studio space of Studio Pottery London. ABOUT ERIC LANDON - MASTER POTTER & DESIGNER At the helm of TORTUS is Eric Landon, a master potter and designer with over 30 years of international acclaim. His work seamlessly fuses efficient, precise wheel-throwing with fresh, modern forms to produce elegant and enduring stoneware. A prominent voice within the ceramics community, Eric inspires a global following exceeding 1.2 million on Instagram. His creative ethos celebrates the meditative yet dynamic joy of throwing - a tactile dialogue with clay that yields vessels radiating both beauty and utility. ABOUT STUDIO POTTERY LONDON Founded by Lucy Attwood and Gregory Tingay in 2019, Studio Pottery London is a light-filled and spacious workshop for all who are attracted to making with clay, from absolute beginners to more experienced potters. Uniquely located in central London in the heart of Victoria as part of the Eccleston Yards development, the studio has been created as a place of calm and community, with a carefully curated working studio and gallery space provides a perfect environment for city-dwellers to come together to learn and create. Two teaching classrooms of seven wheels each ensure intimate classes and a dedicated members area has been carefully designed to give members premium space. A resident potter welcomes members and students into their private studio for one-to-one throwing and mentoring sessions, while an evolving teaching team and an in-house technician - monitoring the studio kilns and glazing room - provide support for the studio community. Curated windows and displays of historic and contemporary ceramics inspire makers and are for sale to visitors.
